This series portrays my recent transition from a comfortable life at home to a strange and unfamiliar life in Tennessee, including the ways in which I've adapted my thoughts and habits in order to survive. The image of the beetle represents the idea of an identity in flux, analogizing my recent move to the changes forced upon the animal kingdom due to man's domination of the natural habitat. The work is inspired by life experience, informed by bits and pieces of the shifting natural landscape, and built upon the work of artists such as Egon Schiele, Marcel Dzama, Henry Darger, & Windsor Mckay. It all comes down to whether you can adapt, and if you can't, you die.
